august sander once inspired me to buy a photobooth and place it on my college campus creating a collective portrait of the local community. have i told that story here yet? i don’t remember.

to say that a photo such as this one, taken by august sander in 1926, has blown me away would be an understatement. this portrait allows me to believe that carnival performers were more than just entertainers, they existed within a world of fascination, creativity and a bit of magic.
